Icmeler is located at the far end of the bay of Marmaris. At one time it was just a sleepy beach area with a couple of hotels and a few tourist shops, but now it is a delightful small holiday town in its own right. The resort offers a lovely sand beach with clear seas which are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. All the usual tourist facilities are available including water sports, sun beds and parasols. This area has a good choice of accommodation, small family run hotels, apartment complexes, modern boutique style properties and some top end 4 star hotels. A great choice of shops, cafes, bars and with many restaurants to choose from. As well as the local dolmus [ bus service] it is possible to take a water taxi to the center of Marmaris.
Turunc is a peaceful village which is situated a little further around the coast from the resorts of Icmeler and Marmaris. The drive over the mountains is fairly spectacular with a narrow windy road with amazing views of the bay below. The resort center is made up of one main street with a number of tourist shops, cafes and numerous restaurants. The quality in the restaurants tends to be to a good standard as the resort attracts a more demanding style of holiday maker. The small harbour area offers day boats for trips to the nearby coves and also a number of water taxis to the harbour of Marmaris. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, clear sea with good bathing. Above the resort there are a number of good quality hotels that offer amazing sea views, however it can be a long walk down and an even longer walk up!
Selimiye is not much more than a sprinkle of holiday accommodation with a few local shops and some good quality restaurants, many offering the daily catch from the local fishermen. The beach is a sand/shingle mix, the sea crystal clear with safe bathing and normal beach facilities. This area is ideal if you enjoy quiet walks, relaxing beach days and tranquil nights enjoying a good dinner in a traditional style restaurant.
Datcha is a small sophisticated holiday town which has been a popular destination for the yachting types for many years. It is now gaining a reputation as a relaxing holiday resort which still operates at low key due mainly to the fact of its location. To get to Datcha it involves a drive along a finger of landmass that sticks out into the Agean, Datcha sits at the end in a beautiful bay with spectacular scenery. The old town of Datcha has its own unique charm with winding narrow streets, various small shops and cafes are dotted amongst the traditional houses. A colection of fine beaches around the area all with lovely clear seas and most with good beach facilities including restaurants for snacks, lunch or just refreshments. Datcha has a number of good dive schools and is becoming very popular due to the quality of its clear seas. Also the area has a number of ancient sites should you want to spend some time away from the beautiful coastline.
